Named as Wales's capital city in 1955, Cardiff (Caerdydd) is a location of great historical and cultural significance. The heart of the South Wales business community and home to the National Assembly for Wales, its rich mix of heritage and contemporary significance leaves Cardiff with the potential to become one of the most dynamic cities in Europe.

As Europe's youngest capital, Cardiff is a city that demands a strong vision. The St David's Partnership, in conjunction with Cardiff County Council and the people of Cardiff, can enhance this vibrant capital with a bold vision of a lively, continental city centre that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Wales.

The vision sees a unique shopping, leisure, cultural and tourist destination being created by regenerating the heart of the city centre - transforming Cardiff into one of the most dynamic cities in Europe. Those who work and live in the city and its many visitors will enjoy the associated benefits.

Our aim is for Cardiff to become a leading European destination - confirming its position as a gateway to Wales and all that the country has to offer.
