St David's 2 will help to establish Cardiff as one of the premier retail destinations in Europe. The scheme is being developed by the St David's partnership, an equal partnership between Land Securities and Capital Shopping Centres. Detailed planning permission was received in the summer of 2005 and the 967,500 sq ft (89,891 sq m) development will be anchored by a new John Lewis store, with a number of MSUs accommodating major retailers. Whilst retail led, the scheme is mixed use and will include 300 residential units and a state of the art civic library.
