The Bridges, Sunderland

Set in the heart of the city, The Bridges is the prime shopping destination for Sunderland. With over 100 shops and several places to eat, the centre is anchored by Debenhams, H&M, TK Maxx, Next and a proposed new Primark set to open Spring 2013.

A large number of key retailers have recently joined the scheme including Disney, Pandora, Lush and JD Sports. The catering offer is consistently being improved as seen by the introduction of strong brands such as Starbucks and Caffe Nero.

The Bridges attracts over 21.5 million customer visits a year and benefits from an excellent public transport network including 940 parking spaces attached to the centre.

The centre has a strong family profile attracting significant numbers of the three ACORN Family groups. The improvements in retail mix has led to the dwell time of shoppers steadily increasing to an average of 89 minutes and an impressive 64% of visitors make a purchase. The Bridges attracts a loyal shopper following with 78% visiting at least weekly.

Sunderland is the largest city in the North East of England with a residential catchment population of 1.7 million. The city is home to many national and international names such as Nissan, Nike, Barclays, Berghaus and T-Mobile.
