Lewisham shopping centre is a modern and attractive centre with over 70 stores, cafes and restaurants, the centre is a popular South London shopping destination.
The centre has a strong retail mix with key anchors including H&M, Next, Argos, BHS, Boots and TK Maxx, with Primark close by. It also provides a key grocery offer, with a large Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury’s providing a day-to-day draw. These factors have created a loyal following for the centre with sixty percent of its shoppers visiting at least weekly.
Over half of shoppers in Lewisham are from the affluent ACORN groups Educated Urbanites and Aspiring Singles, much higher levels than city and national averages. Inner City Adversity are also overrepresented which is typical of a London centre. Dwell time has consistently improved over the past three years and is now an average of 72 minutes.
With rail and bus stations in close proximity, the centre attracts a footfall of 9.1 million and there are currently plans to build on the success of the centre by creating an area to house a more diverse catering offer and a cinema.
Lewisham is inner London’s third largest borough and is undergoing an extensive regeneration project with plans to create new homes, offices and entertainment, including 10,000 new homes by 2017 which are already under construction.
The borough has a bright and diverse cultural life and is home to some of the capital’s most exciting and innovative organisations, over 200 artists and 550 creative industries are based in Lewisham.
