Everyman Makes Its Northern Premiere At Trinty Leeds

Everyman At Trinity Leeds

Boutique cinema operator Everyman will be making its northern debut at the landmark Trinity Leeds scheme after exchanging contracts with Trinity Quarter Developments on a 25,0000 sq ft space as leisure anchor.

The purpose-built complex with four screens will be Everyman Media Group’s first venue outside of London and the South East and signals the calibre of leisure and retail operators the development is attracting. The one million sq ft scheme will transform the area around Briggate and Commercial Street and deliver a vibrant new setting for the heart of the UK’s third largest city.

The scheme, which will include more than 120 retail units and transform the Burton and Trinity arcades and Leeds Shopping Plaza into a single seamless shopping environment, is being developed by Trinity Quarter Developments – a joint venture between Land Securities and Caddick Developments. Opening is planned for 2011.

Trinity Leeds’ leasing director John Grimes said: “This is a real coup for the city. Everyman is an innovative, independent cinema operator that creates an individualistic and personalised viewing experience, combining a mix of film, events and live entertainment within its premises, where customers can relax in luxurious surroundings and enjoy a true entertainment experience.”

Kath Sloggett, CEO of Everyman Media Group, said: “We are delighted to have found the ideal venue for our first venture in the North of England at a very exciting time of expansion for the group as we aim to take our lifestyle brand with its localised community approach to major locations across the UK.  “Trinity Leeds provides us with a superb setting in the heart of the UK’s third largest city and the demographic of Leeds and its wider catchment is ideal for the specialist offer that we bring.” The boutique cinema, which will be opening alongside leading fashion brands in a destination served by a stylish new café/restaurant quarter, looks set to boost the 24-hour economy of Leeds.

Leeds City Council Leader Councillor Andrew Carter said: “This is exactly the type of high quality operator that we want to see in Leeds and we are able to introduce through Trinity Leeds and other major developments, providing a high quality mix of shopping, leisure and entertainment facilities that will create jobs and draw people into the city by day and night.”

Everyman is already operating at a number of landmark London locations, including Hampstead Village, Belsize Park, Baker Street and Islington, in addition to three venues in Surrey and one in Winchester.
