The First Glimpse of Trinity Leeds

First Look for Trinty Leeds Unveiled

THE first glimpse of Trinity Leeds – the city centre’s first one million sq ft retail led mixed use destination - has been revealed as the scheme’s marketing suite opens its doors.

The landmark city centre development, being carried out by Land Securities and Caddick Developments, will create a new retail gateway for the city, and will consolidate its position in the retail premier league.

Demolition works are well underway in preparation for construction of the development, which will include more than 120 retail units, and will transform the Trinity and Burton arcades and Leeds Shopping Plaza into a single seamless shopping environment.

Trinity Leeds will re-position the city centre’s retail offer through the provision of modern flagship stores currently much in demand in the city. Research shows demand from retailers looking to make their trading debut in the city centre is high,
and is matched by the number of retailers seeking to expand their existing presence into modern flagship accommodation.
A new restaurant destination is also being created at the heart of the scheme which will introduce a variety of fine dining and family style restaurant operators to the city for the first time. The covered restaurant area will be centred on a piazza-style
environment to create a new and vibrant evening destination for the city centre.

The development partners are currently in advanced negotiations with a number of leading retail and leisure operators for the scheme’s larger units, and are now preparing for the next stage of development which will see delivery of the scheme
from 2010.

The Trinity Leeds Marketing Suite has now opened to capitalise on the interest shown by retail, restaurant and leisure operators. The suite is located on the 3rd floor of City Exchange, Albion Street, in the centre of the Trinity Leeds scheme and with views over the entire development.

To incorporate the latest thinking in sustainability leading engineers SKM Anthony Hunt, whose previous projects include the Eden Project and Athens Olympic Stadium, are working on a new sustainable roof that will ensure both the construction
and operational carbon footprint of the scheme is reduced significantly. Lester Hampson, Land Securities’ Head of Development, said: “We are proceeding with confidence and believe our scheme will truly help maximise the potential of
Leeds and become the city centre’s pre-eminent destination for shopping choice. We have made rapid progress and have already achieved a major milestone with the start of demolition work.

“Retailer confidence in the scheme is high. Including the existing Plaza Centre which is to be refurbished, the project is now more than 30% let or in solicitors’ hands in overall terms, and new tenants will include a number of retailers new to the city.
Trinity Leeds’ prime location is bound by the city’s traditional prime shopping pitch of Commercial Street and Briggate, one of the UK’s oldest shopping streets, making the scheme uniquely appealing to retailers.”

Johnny Caddick, Director of Caddick Developments, said: "Trinity Leeds will deliver just the sort of quality retail environment that will further strengthen Leeds’ position as the dominant retail centre of the region. The scheme will appeal to a wide catchment of shoppers who want a quality retail experience that gives them the very latest fashion brands in a stylish and relaxed setting."

Joint letting agents for Trinity Leeds are Central Retail, Churston Heard, Cushman & Wakefield and Shelley Sandzer.
