Cabot Circus Wins Gold

At the annual BCSC Awards ceremony on Wednesday 3 December, Cabot Circus, Bristol was awarded the prestigious BCSC Supreme Gold Award for 2008.

The Gold Awards are the leading accolades in the shopping centre and retail destination industry and award excellence in retail led developments and projects that generate improvements in their environment.

Cabot Circus claimed one of four Gold Awards in the Town Retail Scheme category and received the highest accolade among the winners of all 10 Golds across all categories.

Bob De Barr, collected the award on the night on behalf of the development teams for both Land Securities and Hammerson, our development partner on the scheme.

This is the fifth year running that Land Securities have won this award with Princesshay, Exeter taking the honours in 2007; Cardinal Place, London in 2006; Whitefriars, Canterbury in 2005 and Bullring, Birmingham in 2004

Commenting on the level of entries for 2008, the judges said: Michael Green, BCSC Chief Executive: “With a number of high profile shopping centres opening this year, the competition was indeed strong and submissions outstanding. Our 2008 winners are an exceptional example of our industry at its best, showcasing innovative thinking and quality design.”

Neil Varnham, Chairman of the BCSC Gold Awards Jury and Head of Distribution & Business Development at Henderson Global Investors, said: “The jury are delighted with the excellent contributions received this year. The distinctive scheme designs, creative shop-fits and inspiring ideas presented have provided the panel with an extremely high-level of entries, with tough competition in every category.”
